There are a wealth of locations to explore from Otter Pods Glamping Park, with year long events taking place nearby, from the Sidmouth Folk Festival in August, to the Sidmouth & East Devon Walking Festival held each autumn or the Ottery St Mary Tar Barrels Festival held every 5th November.

Whether you want to venture straight from the Park by foot or cycle, to take in the beautiful East Devon countryside and towns, or explore more of Devon as a whole or the nearby neighbouring counties of Dorset and Somerset, there are plenty of options open to you, using Otter Pods Glamping Park as your base for your holiday.

Keeping it local…

The village of Tipton St John is an easy short 10 minute walk straight from the Park, where you will find the village shop & pub.

Tipton Village Store stocks groceries for all your daily needs and the Golden Lion Pub is well known for its local fresh fish and seafood dishes, they even do ‘Take Away Fish ‘n’ Chips’ every Tuesday night, so you can pick-up your tea & go and sit by the river, to take in the beautiful surroundings! Visit www.goldenliontipton.co.uk to view their menu and opening times.

The village also has a garage, which sells fuel and there is a bus stop right by the village shop, if you prefer to leave your car at the Park & venture out by bus.

On our doorstep…

If you feel like a slightly longer walk straight from the Park to collect some provisions and explore the surrounding area by foot, you can reach the historical town of Ottery St Mary via a 3 mile walk along the footpath, following the River Otter, north bound.

Birthplace of Samuel Coleridge and home of the famous 5th November Tar Barrel Festival, Ottery St Mary boasts a number of independent shops, Library and Tourist Information Centre, as wells as coffee shops, a Sainsbury’s supermarket and petrol station.

You will also find at the top of the town, the beautiful Parish Church of St Mary’s which was modelled closely after Exeter Cathedral.

Please take a look at the below links for further information & details.

There are also a number of further public footpath links that can be reached straight from the Park, namely, the Coleridge Link Circular Walk, the East Devon Way and East Hill Strips, with its many footpaths intertwined through the Forestry Commission & Woodland Trust’s forests that you can see clearly from the Park to the east.

The below links to all of these footpath routes will give you details and maps, so that you can plan your walk according to how far you want to go!
